Blogs

When it comes to search engine rankings, content is king. The #1 controlling factor for the #1 spot on Google is fresh content. While Google and Yahoo! love to flaunt the giants of the web (Wikipedia, YouTube and Facebook), there will always be place in their heart for the smaller sites too. By allowing fresh content from quality sites to reach the top of the ranks, they are helping their customers find the best content available, which is what search engines are all about in the first place. It’s really for their own benefit, but we still like to pretend they have a soft spot for us little guys.

Blogs, especially blogs that deliver riveting content time and time again, can become not only a great way to reach potential customers, but can also become amazingly profitable through the selling of advertising space (we also do that if you are interested, see our online advertising page). Making money from advertising is great, but the time required to to get your blog recognized by the public so that they keep coming back for more and more can be massive.

Most of you are here because you want to grow your business. We’re here to tell you that a blog could actually help you do that. We’ve already discussed how fresh content, created through a blog, can dramatically improve you search engine rankings. But there is another side that’s equally as enticing. Your customers are your customers because they love what you offer them. Be it your superior product, your outstanding customer service or the discount you give them every time, they come back to you because they are happy with the experience. A blog, along with a select few other forms of marketing, can keep you in touch with your customers on a seriously personal level. If you are a fan of any blog then you know probably have emotionally connected to the author. You trust them.

I probably don’t need to tell you that basis of any good business relationship is trust.
