Content Management Systems

Why pay your web developer for change$ you can easily make yourself?

Content management systems (CMS) are the best thing to happen to websites since Google. CMS is basically a way for someone with very little technical knowledge to update their own website without having to explain to their web developer (that’s us) what to do. We have to admit, we are absolutely in love with this technology because we no longer have to update calendars and minor copy changes. This leaves us more time to do what we love… marketing and building great websites for our clients.

We use WordPress as our primary CMS because it is user friendly on the front end and extremely search engine friendly (think “automatic SEO”). For those of you that were wondering, yes, WordPress is generally thought of as a blogging software (see more about blogs here), but it really doesn’t get enough credit for it’s outstanding incorporated content management system. We think it’s so great that we actually use it to build some websites that don’t even have blogs.

We are also familiar with Joomla!, which is also a wonderful CMS and another comprehensive option for your new website or redesign. Even if you can’t see yourself ever adjusting your own website, we would still recommend one of these for the seemingly unfair amount of entries they get in search engines. Combine one of these babies with a custom Coldfire SEO package and you’ll be at the top in no time.
